Not sure...This guy i've liked for a really long time and his signs are hard to read what do i do?

The guy i like flirts with me everyonce and awhile depending on how much we hang out and i think that we've both liked eachother for a really long time but never went out or made anything of it. He would do things like wink at me after he made a joke, hug me, and he used to comeover to my house alot with a group of people and we would always flirt but then he'd flirt with another girl so it didnt seem like he was interested. Everyonce and awhile he'll text me hey and we will text for a little bit then he just wouldn't respond. My bestfriend supposedly talked to him and he said that he's done fooling around with other girls and wants to have a serious relationship with me where he can take things slow. But he never makes the move and when i walk by him between cles he gives me the head nod or a hey. My other friend said that he thinks im hot and would go for me in an instance if i asked him to sadies. I think the reason why ive stayed away from him for so long is because i didnt want him to use me and he knew that so now that he wants to take things slow and actually have a relationship i might consider going out with him. what do you think?
